…in Chinese retirees according to a article at Diabetes Self-Managment. In the study population, 70% of retirees took naps. I’d be surprised if that many U.S. retirees take naps. It’s unclear whether napping causes type 2 diabetes and prediabetes znc whether results apply to non-Chinese ethnic groups.
Good grief….waiting for the research that shows being alive is linked to type 2 diabetes…sheesh…easy for the layman to get a bit jaded over published research like this….thank god im not chinese, retired, and a napper…is this an exercise in creative grant writing? Is there a real world value in people getting funding to do research like this? Is it ok if I sleep at night now that napping is out?
The Chinese obesity rates are rising starkly. Add to that their innate susceptibility to obstructive sleep apnea and you have a recipe for daytime sleepiness (caused by OSA, exacerbated by obesity) and increased risk for T2D (exacerbated by both obesity and OSA). Makes perfect sense to me.
